Hello Friends-

We want to take a minute to invite all of you to attend our 22nd Annual Bartenders’ Charity Ball on Monday, December 3rd from 8:00 pm to 1:00 am in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency in downtown Saint Louis.  As usual, this event will feature a gourmet buffet provided by the area’s best chefs; top shelf liquor, wine, and beer provided by area producers and distributors, served up by local bartenders; entertainment with live music and DJ’s; a casino; and more.  All you can eat, drink, and be merry is included with your admission ticket, which is only $60 in advance and $70 at the door the night of the event.   This price is actually lower than our prior several years ticket cost, a great deal to the party of the year!

Why a discount this year?  Well, this is a very bittersweet moment as we share with you that this is “The Last Call for the Bartenders’ Charity Ball”.  After starting in 1991 and holding a Ball each year since, our organization, Restaurant Charities, Inc., has decided to retire this event.  This event has been a groundbreaking, premier event in Saint Louis, inspiring similar events all over the country!  The BCB began in 1991 with about 400 attendees at the first ball.  That has grown to over 1,600 attendees in our prime!  Over the years, this has helped us raise over $800,000 for charity.  Not bad for a small group of local folks that do this in addition to their full time jobs on a strictly volunteer basis!  We can then donate all of our proceeds after event expenses to many organizations in need.  Of course, we could not have done it without our many event committees and staff, who have put in countless hours to help our organization over the years.  Many of you are included on that list, so thank you so much for volunteering or attending our events.  In the process, you have helped Cardinal Glennon’s Children’s Hospital, Food Outreach, Operation Liftoff, Saint Louis Effort for AIDS, Dining Out for Life, and many more worthy causes, while having a great time doing it!

Is this the end of the road for Restaurant Charities?  Not just yet.  We haven’t decided what our future holds, but we think that this event, though it has evolved through the years, needs some major changes to stay relevant and successful.  In addition, several people on our board are founding or long-time members that are ready to retire from the board, or at least enjoy a well-deserved break from the work these events take to succeed.

So, please come out and play with over a thousand of the coolest people in town for a great cause!  Pull out your party clothes, get a group of friends together, take Tuesday off work, and get a hotel room at the Hyatt for only $89 by mentioning the Bartenders’ Ball.  If rooms sell out, which they usually do each year, there are many hotels nearby as well.  As any of those that have attended in the past can share, the party continues on long past the ball is over.  You don’t want to miss that fun!  Whether you are a long time attendee that wants one last hurrah, or a first timer that wants an opportunity to see this amazing event in person, I hope to see you there!  We lowered the price to be sure that an even bigger pool of people could afford to come, realizing that these are still tougher times for many.  We will be going out with a bang, and want to include as many people as possible.  Hope to see you there!
